F-COTI CONTRIBUTED SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS TO 40 STUDENTS

FUNDAÇÃO CARBON OFFSET TIMOR (F-COTI) awarded scholarships to 40 students, consisting of 20 female students and 20 male students from Catholic High School of Dom Basilio in Laclubar. The scholarship covers students’ full tuition for the whole year of 2020. The scholarship ceremony was held on 2nd December 2020 from 10 am until 11 am in Laclubar. Mr. Alexandre R. B. Sarmento, CEO of F-COTI, staff, and partners of F-COTI: Group Training Northern Territory (GTNT) and Friends of Laclubar were the people who addressed the scholarships. The scholarship funding comes from Group Training Northern Territory(GTNT), Friends of Laclubar. The representative of GTNT, Mrs. Brook Hyatt, delivered her short messages through a video call to the scholars in Laclubar and advised the students to take advantage of this program to study well. Mrs. Brooke also affirmed that GTNT would continue to support this scholarshipprogram as long as it can. This scholarship program has been implemented since 2011 until today.Father Benjamin Fernandes, the High School director, and the representative of 40 students expressed their sincerest gratitude to GTNT, F-COTI, and Amigos de Laclubar for their continuous support to the school, a program that has been implemented since 2011. They also thanked GTNT and F-COTI for planting trees in the schoolyard as well as constructing a three-classroom building for the school. F-COTI and its Donor partners have implemented a Carbon Sequestration project in the Municipality of Manatuto and Viquequqe since 2011 until today. Currently, one of FCOTI’s projects, Halo Verde Timor Community Forest Carbon has already obtained international certificate from Plan Vivo (Scotland) and approximately 20,000 of carbon credits have been issued for sale of which nearly 200 tons have been sold. F-COTI is now selling carbon credit in international market.
